The only true way of knowing if a girl is a virgin is to ask her. Many cultures believe that a girl is only a virgin if she still has an intact hymen. The hymen is a thin membrane of skin that partially covers the entrance to the vagina. This membrane can bleed when it is torn as a man's penis enters the vagina. Some cultures therefore believe that blood on the sheets on a woman's wedding night is the only proof that a girl was a virgin.

Neither the presence of the hymen nor bleeding during intercourse can truly indicate virginity however. Some girls are born without hymens, others will have hymens that stretch and don't break during sex, and some will have torn their hymens during sport, inserting tampons, masturbation or even riding a horse.

Not all women feel comfortable having sex when they are menstruating, and some men dislike the idea of blood being present during sexual intercourse, but there is generally nothing wrong with having sex during a woman's period and it will not cause either partner any harm.

This said, it is worth remembering that HIV and a few other sexually transmitted infections may be passed on more easily during a woman's period (both from the woman to the man and from the man to the woman), so a condom should always be used if there is any doubt over either partner's sexual history and HIV status. HIV cannot be 'created' by having sex with a woman on her period if both partners are HIV negative however - it is only ever passed from one person to another.

Till what age do men enjoy sexual intercourse?

One can enjoy sex till one desires and is capable of. However, the aging process affects all aspects of life; that is why there is something like retirement age when even the most capable person has to quit his job & position. Aging gradually restricts all physical functions and affects all corporal attributes. How can the ability to perform sexual intercourse be an exception?

I have known many people who get satisfactory erection even after the age of 60 and even 70.

What happened with you is perfectly normal. There is nothing to worry about!

Avoid penetrative intercourse if and till it is painful. Let the wounds heal completely and it may take couple of days. Maintain cleanliness/hygiene.

Always engage into prolonged, mutually satisfying foreplay before penetration and also use good amount of lubricant such as KY jelly next time to minimize possible trauma/injury.

Being away from each other is unlikely to create any sexual difficulties. Chances are however of problems creeping in at an interpersonal level and that too only if you allow them to. In other words all you need to is to keep a good communication going and continue to share your thoughts and feelings with each other. Remember to consult the other while taking important decisions. As far as sexual talk on the phone is concerned, it must be done with the consent of both persons involved. There is nothing abnormal in that behaviour. Premature ejaculation ?

There is nothing wrong with the slight anatomical anomaly you have described unless you are having difficulties with sexual intercourse - in which case I would recommend a consultation with a urologist.

Premature ejaculation can have a number of causes, often psychological. Using a condom can often delay ejaculation as it reduces sensitivity, while also ensuring safe sex.
